Generoso promotore di numerosi progetti culturali, tra... i quali si ricorda il restauro del teatro dell'opera di Detroit, Frank Stella si è distinto per l'impegno profondo e instancabile a favore della comunità italiana d'America. Egli contribuì in particolare alla diffusione della lingua e della cultura italiana e fu fondatore e presidente per lunghi anni della NIAF.
I valori di libertà e solidarietà di cui fu alfiere sono l'eredità che egli lascia ai cinque figli e a tutta la vasta e qualificata comunità dei cittadini americani di origine italiana.

TIME MAGAZINE - Controversial (Italian/American) Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia argues that the Constitution does not bar sex discrimination. In 1971, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that women are protected by the equal-protection clause. Now, Adam Cohen writes, "It is no small thing to talk about writing women out of equal protection — or Jews, or Latinos or other groups who would lose their protection by the same logic." ANSA. A long-awaited restoration of the Colosseum should be finished by 2013, Italian Culture Undersecretary Francesco Giro announced on Monday. "The restoration will involve the entire amphitheatre and will cost around 30 million euros," the undersecretary said. (Read the article)
Screen goddess Sophia Loren showed beauty pageant contestants exactly how it's done as she arrived at the Miss Italy contest yesterday. The actress, who looked absolutely incredible for her 75 years, wore a tight silver dress which enhanced her toned figure as she sat on the judging panel for the pageant in Salsomaggiore Terme. Film director Sofia Coppola took home the top prize at the Venice International Film Festival, receiving it from her former boyfriend Quentin Tarantino. She said she was very proud to win the award and thanked her father for teaching her. (Voices of America)
