You can be innovative and start a “revolution” even in a small town in Italy: that’s the story told by world known scientist Ilaria Capua last night at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. It was the kick-off of a new series of conversations called “Outstanding Italian Women in the US”. “We’ll have also women in art, music, food and finance,” said the director of the Institute Giorgio van Straten, introducing the event.

On Thursday, October 2, the Italian Culture Institute in New York introduces “The Macchiaioli,” an exhibit curated by Marco Bertoli. Twenty masterpieces coming from the private Italian collection to New York for the first time include: Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega, Telemaco Signorini and other big influential avant-garde artists that are most important to the Italian paintings of the 1800s.

The Morgan Library opened today a wonderful exhibition featuring some of the works of one of the geniuses of Italian Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinci. The show includes pieces selected from the amazing collection of the Biblioteca Reale of Turin. Among the works, the famous "Codex on the Flight of Birds" and "Head of a Young Woman"

On September 21, World Peace Day, the magazine Wired Italia crowned its Internet for Nobel Prize 2010 Campaign at the Paley Center for Media in New York. Among those attending the ceremony, two of the project’s ambassadors: 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Shirin Ebadi, and Nicholas Negroponte, founder and Chairman Emeritus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab, first inventor of Wired Magazine, and founder of the One Laptop per Child Association (OLPC).
