AICF Celebrates 25 Years of Service to Women of NYC

For the past 25 years the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) has been serving economically disadvantaged women in New York City by providing no-cost breast cancer screening, outreach and education program through a mobile unit that reaches them in their own neighborhoods.

Many of these women have geographic, cultural or linguistic barriers that interfere with them receiving appropriate screening services and often stop them from making the annual breast screening for cancer a priority. The mobile unit visits neighborhoods in the five boroughs to provide mammograms, clinical breast exams as well as education and instruction in breast self-exam. All of the services are at no cost, regardless of health insurance status.

The Foundation also supports cancer research and education through funding of International Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships placing emphasis on the collaboration between Italy and the United States.

On Thursday, June 14th the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) will be hosting a party to recognize the 25 years of service to the women of New York City. “Celebrate in Pink” will be held at ESPACE on 42nd Street between 11th and 12th Avenues from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and will feature a cocktail party, hors d'oeuvres, wine tasting, silent auction and raffle.

Funds raised during the event will support the program’s outreach activities and medical services, as well as fulfill the costs of the renovation of AICF’s large mobile clinic to accommodate the new, state-of-the-art digital mammography screening equipment that was purchased in the fall of 2012.

Celebrate in Pink is for breast cancer survivors, scientists and physicians, and for all men and women in New York City who wish to “give back” to those less fortunate and recognize the importance of this life-saving program.
