Summer 2012- Italian Artists at MoMA and MoMA PS1
The Museum of Modern Art will host “Alighiero Boetti: Game Plan”, a retrospective exhibition on the leading artist of the Arte Povera movement which will be on display beginning July 1st to October 1st,2012.This retrospective, organized in collaboration with the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and the Tate Modern in London, will be the largest presentation outside of Italy of works by Italian artist Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) to date. Working in his hometown of Turin in the early 1960s amids a close community of artists that included Luciano Fabro, Mario Merz, Giulio Paolini, and Michelangelo Pistoletto, among others, Boetti established himself as one of the leading artists of the Arte Povera movement.
MoMA PS1 presents the first study on the Italian artist Lara Favaretto with the exhibit “ Lara Favaretto: Just Knocked”, on display from May 3rd to September 19th, 2012. Lara Favaretto is an Italian artist born in Treviso in 1973. Currently she lives in Torino where she continues to create her art. Lara Favaretto draws her inspiration from collecting different documents, pictures, and texts to create her own original works which have had a profound effect on many art critics. For this motivation her works are well-know around the world.
