The Italian Cultural Institute of New York will be hosting an exhibition celebrating the Italian architect and designer Massimo Vignelli from Tuesday, June 05, 2012 to Friday, July 13, 2012. On view will be a selection of works designed by Massimo and Lella Vignelli in almost fifty years of anoutstanding career.
The objects are provided by the Vignelli Archives at the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY.
For the occasion of the opening night,on June 4, The Director of Cooper Hewitt Museum Bill Moggridge will be presenting Mr. Vignelli and his eminent body of work. Mr. Vignelli and his Vignelli Associate design studio are world renowned for their revolutionary designs including the 1972 New York City subway map, the American Airlines logo, the iconic packaging of Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales, in addition to many more.
Mr. Vignelli had his work published and exhibited throughout the world as well as entered in the permanent collections of several museums; notably, the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and The Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York; The Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Montreal; and The Die Neue Sammlung in Munich.
